"The Core" first derived from a laid back in-game music channel in World of Warcraft where a couple of close WoW members would relax, talk about music that was being streamed, and just stay away from any drama that may have occured within their guild. When more people got involved with the music channel, it was time to change the channel's name to something more general instead of just music-related. After a couple of different name suggestions, "The Core" was brought up and everyone decided it was a suitable name, considering the channel mostly contained 'core' members of the guild who would usually group together and accomplish new content to the best of their abilities.
After becoming tired of World of Warcraft, this group of players decided to invest their time into Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. To this day, The Core remains a somewhat small, but still competitive guild who always looks forward to overcoming new goals and content while still enjoying the game.
